…OUR STORY

Counseling and Recovery Services of Oklahoma (CRSOK), is dedicated to providing comprehensive mental health, physical wellness, and substance abuse services to individuals and families in our community. Our care coordination is designed to maximize the overall health of our clients, as well as to provide inclusive and accessible care for all. Contracting with the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS), we are solely measured by our clients’ improved behavioral health and physical wellness outcomes.

We are certified in the internationally recognized trauma-informed model called Sanctuary. Sanctuary is a wholistic treatment intervention model based on the assumption that trauma, stress, and adversity are universal human experiences

Our wide array of services and support are inclusive and accessible to all. No two people are alike in their journey to recovery. Every client’s care plan is unique to their physical, behavioral, medicinal and community support needs.

We are committed to helping our clients thrive beyond our building. After nearly four decades, the need for our services has grown exponentially and we have outgrown our current facility. In the last year, we have expanded our capacity to include physical health screenings and treatment, including expanded crisis care services for adults and children.

…OUR VISION OF CARE

Last year we helped more than 12,500 clients build better lives, strengthen families and provided hope beyond our building. We’ve continued to expand and innovate our services as community needs continue to increase at a rapid rate.

As mental health needs, co-occurring physical health issues and substance use in Tulsa are at an alltime high, our current facilities are unable to keep up with this unprecedented demand. Our Beyond the Building capital campaign will allow us to grow and expand care for children, adults, and families in need of mental and behavioral health support, crises intervention, physical wellness and substance use services.

SOME OF THE MOST RECENT OUTCOMES INCLUDE:

  • 60% of our clients showed a reduction in substance use
  • Our individual employment placement support program is ranked #1 in the state
  • With the services clients receive, their lives are affected in significant ways, including increased employment, housing, improved social relationships, and life skills

…THE NEED

Mental illness has a significant impact on individuals, families, and the Tulsa community. Many of our neighbors who live with mental illness are not receiving the treatment they need. In fact, Tulsa residents living with mental illness and/or addiction die 27 years earlier than all other Oklahoma residents – that’s a life expectancy of less than 50 years old. In addition to a heightened mortality rate, additional impacts include incarceration, homelessness and acts of violence.

  • Doubled those being helped with substance use reduction services

  • Tripled the number helped financially with rent and utilities

  • Fielded a 41% surge in crisis calls

  • Experienced a 33% increase in our pharmacy traffic

“As a leading provider of mental health services, we know that early intervention and treatment for children, individuals and families can mean the difference between a bright, healthy, productive future and the potential tragic outcomes of addiction, incarceration, homelessness, serious mental illness and premature death” – Andre Campbell, Clinical Director

“Our mission is to improve the quality of life by providing behavior health and substance abuse services with the ultimate goal of recovery beyond our building. There has never been a greater demand for our services than now as an unprecedented number of individuals in our community are facing significant challenges that adversely impact their emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing.”

…The Solution

Thanks to the generosity of the ODMHSAS, Tulsa County, City of Tulsa ARPA funds, CRSOK has secured nearly $2.9M to purchase and renovate our Youth Evaluation Service (YES) Tulsa facility – a nearly 14,000 sq. ft. building, located near The CALM Center. This is an unprecedented opportunity for CRSOK to be the first 24-hour youth crisis service center in the Tulsa area. The Beyond the Building campaign will fund the redevelopment and renovation of this building for the permanent operating facility.

CRSOK is purchasing a 68,000 sq. ft. building located at 71st and Riverside and renovating the facility to accommodate additional clients, increase and enhance on-site client treatment and wellness programs and services..
