Treatment Works

One in four people will experience a mental health disorder. Mental health is as important as physical health to quality of life.  The good news is that treatment works, and recovery is possible. The first step toward recovery is calling for an appointment.

Heidi moved here from New Orleans, La, and needed medication and treatment. She searched on Google and found Counseling & Recovery Services. It saved her life. To learn more about Heidi’s journey, follow this link.

As a full-service community mental health center, Counseling & Recovery Services will assess and treat all mental illnesses including depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.  We also treat substance abuse. Our agency provides services to people without insurance, with Medicaid, Medicare and some private insurances.

Simply call 918.492.2554 in Tulsa or 918.245.5565 in Sand Springs to start your journey toward feeling better. The first appointment is free. Youth (10-17) in crisis can call 918.394.2256 any time of day or night

List of Services

Assessment

Just like with high blood pressure or diabetes, a mental health issue requires a diagnosis. This is done through an assessment where a therapist identifies what causes the negative moods, feelings or behaviors. A plan is created to manage and recover from the issues.

Counseling

With the help of therapists and clinicians, clients learn to respond to challenging situations with healthy coping skills. Individual and/or group therapy is available for a variety of issues including depression, schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, anxiety, anger management, sleep disorders, obsessive or addictive behaviors.

For example, some clients want to learn how to manage their illnesses,  look for a job, organize and pay bills, plan and prepare meals, or find and keep adequate housing.  Clinicians work one-on-one with clients on these and many other issues.

Counseling & Recovery Services of Oklahoma helps clients identify the best services to meet their individual recovery goals and needs.

Medication

Studies show a combination of therapy and medication works best for many disorders. Following the assessment and diagnosis, most clients see a psychiatrist or physician specializing in psychiatric medications.

Pharmacy

To help our clients with access to medications, our agency operates a pharmacy just for them. Our pharmacy staff also helps clients apply for medication assistance.

Housing

Living in a clean, safe and affordable place promotes stability, security and recovery. The agency offers transitional and permanent housing for 76 of our adult clients. Our case managers also help clients identify affordable housing in the community.

Clients who have independent housing receive education, counseling and other support to avoid losing this housing.

Crisis Support

Our clinical staff is trained to help when a crisis occurs. If a situation is life threatening, clients should call 911 or go to the emergency room. For after-hours crisis, clients should call COPES at 918.744.4800 or go to Tulsa Center for Behavioral Health, 2323 S. Harvard.
