Health Information Mgmt. (HIM) Tech (ROI Specialist) 23-025: Health Information Management Technician – (Release of Information Specialist) (ROI) requires a minimum of six months medical records experience in a customer service setting. Ability to work in a team setting, one-on-one independently, ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with frequent interruption, ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, in writing, and by phone. Proficient in multiple software systems including but not limited Microsoft Office and electronic health records, evaluate the effectiveness of existing methods and procedures; developing, analyzing, and revising processes, comply with established policies and procedures. Interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems; work with frequent interruptions and be a team player.

The Release of Information Specialist is responsible for processing all release of information requests in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring accuracy, and providing clients with the highest quality and customer service. The ROI Specialist must always safeguard and protect the clients right to privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals to have access to the client’s medical information and that all releases of information are in compliance with the request, authorization, company policy, and HIPAA regulations.

The ROI Specialist also assists the Health Information Management Team in performing clerical duties within the department including processing faxes, scanning documents into the client’s electronic medical record, locating, and tracking clinical and administrative documents, answering the departmental telephone, maintaining client records, and other duties as assigned.
